Finding articles nobody reaches

An article with no readers is either badly titled, badly placed, or answering a question nobody has.

Build the report

  1. Open Explore and use the Knowledge dataset.
  2. Choose a metric counting article views.
  3. Add the article as a row.
  4. Filter to a meaningful period, such as the last quarter.
  5. Sort ascending and read from the top.

Then work out which of three it is

Badly titled

The most common and the easiest to fix. An article named in your vocabulary rather than the customer's is invisible to search. Retitle it as the question, and add labels for the words people use.

Badly placed

In a section nobody browses, with nothing linking to it. Link to it from the articles a reader arrives at first.

Answering a question nobody has

Written because somebody thought it should exist. Archive it, and the knowledge base gets smaller and better.

Check before you conclude

Some articles legitimately have few readers: a rare problem, a seasonal subject, something recently published. Low views is a prompt to look, not a verdict.

Do this yearly

Along with archiving what is out of date. Twenty minutes with this report is the cheapest quality improvement available, and it also keeps your AI agent from quoting things nobody wanted.
