The view limit and what happens when you pass it

The views list holds 100 shared views and 10 personal ones. Anything past that still exists, but your agents will not see it.

How many views can I have?

The number that bites is not how many you can create but how many an agent sees. The views list in the sidebar holds up to 100 active standard and shared team views and up to 10 personal views.

Views beyond those numbers are not gone. They sit behind Manage views at the bottom of the list, which is a place agents visit roughly never.

What that means in practice

An account that has grown past 100 shared views has views that exist, work, and are seen by nobody. There is no warning: the list stops at 100. So the first thing to do when a team says "my view has disappeared" is to count the views, not to look for the view.

Two things while counting. Suspended tickets and Deleted tickets do not count towards the 100. And on Enterprise a custom role can hold agents to 12 shared and 8 personal, so one agent seeing fewer than another is a role setting.

What to do

Deactivate what nobody uses. A view is deactivated from its options menu on the views page, and only a deactivated view can be deleted. That order is deliberate, and worth using: deactivate, wait a few weeks, delete only what nobody came asking for. Deleting is permanent and there is nothing to retrieve.

The other habit is to stop using views for questions they are not for. A view is a work queue. If you want to know how the backlog moved over a quarter, that is a report, and for anything running to hundreds of thousands of tickets it is an export.
