Can I decide on which pages the widget appears

Yes, three ways. Which you use depends on who maintains your website and whether the script sits in a global template.

The three

  • Only put the script on those pages. Simplest, and awkward if the script is in a global template.
  • Use the allowlist in Zendesk to limit which domains may show it. Good for whole sections and for staging.
  • Control it in code, hiding or showing the widget per page. Most precise, and it needs a developer.

Which to choose

For a site where the script sits in one global template, the allowlist is the practical answer. For a site with per-page control already, putting the script only where you want it is cleaner.

Where to show it

Where somebody is likely to have a question: support pages, checkout, order confirmation, anything technical. Not on your careers page, and arguably not on your home page.

A widget everywhere competes with the page and gets ignored. A widget where questions arise gets used.

Where not to

Long forms. A widget covering the submit button on a phone costs you more than the conversation is worth, and it is easy to miss when testing on a desktop.
