Signing in and filling in your profile

Signing in for the first time and filling in the parts of your profile that customers actually see on every reply you send.

  1. Open the invitation email from your admin and follow the link to set a password.
  2. If your organisation uses single sign-on, you will be sent to your own login screen instead and no password is set here.
  3. Go to your Zendesk address, which looks like yourcompany.zendesk.com or your own help centre domain.

No invitation? Your admin has to add you. Signing up yourself creates an end user account, not an agent one.

Fill in your profile

  1. Click your avatar, top right, and choose View profile.
  2. Set your name. This appears on every reply, so use the form you want customers to read.
  3. Add a photo. It shows in the help centre and on messaging conversations.
  4. Check your time zone and language. These decide how timestamps appear to you and which interface language you get.

The alias, if your team uses one

An agent alias replaces your real name on outgoing messages. Teams use it when they would rather customers saw a first name only, or a team name. Only an admin can set it, so ask if that is the convention where you work.

Two-factor authentication

If your admin has made it mandatory you will be asked to set it up on first sign-in. Save your recovery codes somewhere outside Zendesk. Losing your phone without them means an admin has to help you back in.
