No. The reply window is Meta's rule, Zendesk blocks the composer once it closes, and there is no way around it, only ways to work with it.
Why can I not reply to this message?
For Facebook Messenger the period is seven days from the customer's message. Meta sets it, and it differs by platform and by message type.
You will not see a failed send: the composer is blocked once the window has closed, precisely so that nothing is sent and then quietly not delivered. An agent looking at a conversation they cannot type into is looking at this rule.
It exists to stop businesses messaging people indefinitely, which is a reasonable rule that occasionally makes support harder.
How do I work with it?
- Answer promptly. The whole problem disappears if social conversations are handled the same day.
- Do not park them. A social ticket on hold for three days is a ticket you may not be able to answer.
- Move to email where you can see it will take time. Ask for an address while the window is open.
- Set expectations. If your team does not watch social daily, say so on the profile.
Do not look for a way round it
Zendesk states plainly that the seven-day rule cannot be bypassed. The mechanisms that exist for messaging outside the window are for specific purposes and are policed, and using them to get around the rule risks the channel entirely.
If it happens often
That is a routing or staffing signal. A social channel routed to a team that checks it twice a week will keep hitting this, and the fix is who watches it rather than anything technical.
