A verification rule decides how long an article stays trusted before somebody has to look at it again.

Set up a rule

  1. Open the verification settings in Knowledge.
  2. Add a rule and choose what it covers, by section or by label.
  3. Set the interval after which articles it covers become unverified.
  4. Save.

Match the interval to how fast the subject moves

  • Six months for anything describing a product that ships regularly.
  • A year for process and policy.
  • Longer for background that rarely changes.

A single interval across everything either buries the team in reviews or lets the fast-moving articles rot. The point of rules is that they can differ.

Start with the articles people actually read

Your twenty most-viewed articles carry most of the risk of being wrong, because being wrong there affects the most people. Cover those first and extend later.

Unverified is a signal, not an alarm

It means nobody has confirmed the article recently, which is worth knowing and is not the same as the article being wrong. Treat the list as a queue to work through rather than a fault to fix.

Only useful if somebody works the queue

Rules generate a list. If nothing reads that list, you have built an accurate record of neglect. Pair every rule with a person and a rhythm, even a monthly half hour.
