Dial from the Teams Calls tab

Plan requirement

Subscription MS-PhoneSystem
Also required Microsoft Phone System licences, CLASSOUND Pro

Using the native Teams dial pad to place calls over Wildix, and what has to be in place on the Microsoft side first.

Two different things in Teams

  • A Wildix tab inside Teams. Collaboration 7 or x-bees runs in a tab. Lighter to set up, and it works today if you have it.
  • The Teams Calls tab itself. The native dial pad places calls over Wildix. This is the one with real prerequisites.

People asking to "call from Teams" almost always mean the second.

Making a call

Once it is set up there is nothing to learn: open the Calls tab, dial, and the call runs over Wildix. Your colleagues see your normal extension and your number presents as usual.

What is needed behind it

  • MS-PhoneSystem, one per system, which we arrange
  • Microsoft Phone System licences for each person dialling from Teams. These come from Microsoft and are charged separately from anything with us.
  • CLASSOUND Pro
  • A Microsoft administrator to configure the tenant

Check the Microsoft licences before promising this to anyone. This is where the project stalls, and it stalls after people have been told it is coming.

Which features live where

The Teams dial pad handles calling. Presence, call groups, transfers to colleagues and everything else still belong to Wildix. If someone works in queues, they will still want the Wildix interface open.
