Setting up and showing the Web Widget

The widget is one script on your pages. Getting it there is easy; deciding what it does is the part that matters.

Install it

  1. Open Admin Center, then Channels, then Messaging.
  2. Open the Web Widget for your brand and copy the script.
  3. Paste it before the closing body tag on every page.
  4. Load a page and confirm the widget appears and opens.

On a content management system this usually goes in a global template or a script-injection setting, so it applies everywhere at once.

What the widget can offer

  • A conversation with your team.
  • Help centre search, so visitors find an answer without asking.
  • A contact form, where you would rather take a message than a conversation.

Which of these appear is configured per brand, and putting search in front of the conversation reduces volume without hiding you.

Check it on a phone

The widget behaves differently on a small screen, where it covers more of the page. Look at it on a real device, especially on pages with a fixed footer or a cookie banner.

One widget per brand

Each brand has its own, with its own appearance and its own settings. Putting the wrong brand's script on a site sends those conversations to the wrong queue, and it is not obvious from looking at it.
