An allowlist limits which domains may show your widget, which stops it appearing where you did not intend.
Set it up
- Open the Web Widget settings in Admin Center.
- Add the domains where the widget is allowed.
- Save and confirm it still appears on your own site.
Why it matters
The widget script is public. Anyone who copies it onto their own page gets a working widget pointing at your support team, and those conversations arrive looking legitimate.
That is rare and not hypothetical. An allowlist closes it.
The other use: rolling out gradually
More common day to day. Allowlisting one section of your site, or a staging domain, lets you start messaging at a volume you can handle and extend once it works.
Include everything you actually use
Staging domains, a separate help centre domain, any country-specific sites. Forgetting one means the widget silently disappears there, and the first report will come from a colleague rather than a monitor.
Check after any website change
A new domain, a migration or a subdomain change breaks the list. Since the failure is the widget simply not appearing, add this to whatever checklist you use after site changes.
