Colours, name and launcher text. Small choices that decide whether the widget looks like part of your site or bolted on.
Change it
- Open the Web Widget settings in Admin Center.
- Set the title, the colours and the launcher text.
- Add your logo.
- Save and reload your site.
Name it for what it does
The launcher text is the invitation. "Chat with us" promises a person now. "Help" or "Questions?" is honest whether or not somebody is available, and works out of hours too.
If your answer time is measured in hours rather than seconds, do not use wording that promises a conversation.
Colours
Match your site, and check the contrast. The default blue on a blue site disappears; a bright accent on a muted site shouts. Look at it on a real page rather than in the settings preview.
The avatar
A logo is safe. A stock photograph of a person who does not work for you is worse than nothing, and customers notice.
Check both themes and both sizes
Your site may have a dark mode, and your visitors are on phones. Both change how the widget reads, and neither is visible from the settings page.
