Viewing tagged content

Plan requirement

Subscription Suite Growth or higher, Knowledge Professional or higher
Access Agent, Admin

Following a content tag opens a search results page showing all help centre content that carries it, and reading that page is the quickest way to spot the article a subject is still missing. This needs Suite Growth or higher with Knowledge Professional or higher.

See what carries a tag

  1. As a reader: click the tag in the Related to section at the foot of an article or post. A search results page opens with everything sharing that tag.
  2. As an admin: in Knowledge admin, click Arrange content, then Manage content tags, then View tagged content from a tag's options menu.

The two views answer different questions. The reader's page tells you what somebody following the tag gets; the admin view tells you what a rename or delete would touch.

Read it as a reader would

The reader's page is a destination, not an admin screen. Open the tag for your most important subject and ask whether somebody landing there would find it coherent.

Usually two things stand out: an article that plainly belongs and is not there, and one that is there and does not belong.

Use it before writing something new

Checking the tag for a subject is the quickest way to find out whether the article already exists under a title you would not have searched for. That matters more here than elsewhere, because content tags do not feed search: an article you cannot find by searching may still be sitting under the tag.

What an empty tag means

Nothing carries it any more, usually because the last article was deleted or retagged. Remove it from the management page, because an empty grouping is a dead end for anybody who follows it.

Community posts appear here too

Which is often the point: the tag shows both what you have documented and what customers are still discussing. A tag with lively posts and no article names the article to write next.

Check which brand you are looking at

On Growth and Professional, the page shows tagged content from that brand only. If you run several help centres and expect to see everything, that expectation holds on Enterprise with multibrand search, and not below it.
