The branding settings cover most of what a help centre needs to look like your company, without touching any code.
Change them
- Open the theme settings in Knowledge.
- Set the brand colour, the heading and body fonts, and upload the logo.
- Preview.
- Publish.
Contrast before brand
A brand colour chosen for a printed brochure is often too pale for text on a screen. Light grey on white is unreadable for more people than you would guess, and the help centre is exactly where readers are already frustrated.
Where the brand colour fails as text, keep it for buttons and accents and set body text darker.
Two fonts at most
One for headings, one for body, and use the same body font everywhere. Help centre pages are read rather than admired, and a third font makes the page busier without making anything clearer.
The logo needs a transparent background
A logo saved with a white background sits in a visible white box on any coloured header. It is the single most common thing wrong with a freshly branded help centre.
Check the favicon
Small, easy to forget, and visible in every tab a customer has open. A default icon there undoes some of the care taken everywhere else.
Look at it on a phone
Before publishing. Large logos and long headings behave differently on a narrow screen, and that is where a good share of your readers are.
