The settings that shape everything else: time zone, week start, hours and holidays. Set them before building anything.
Set them
- Open the account settings in Workforce Management.
- Set the time zone.
- Set the first day of the week.
- Define your operating hours.
- Add public holidays.
Time zone first
Every forecast, schedule and report uses it. Changing it later shifts historical data and makes comparisons meaningless, so this is worth getting right on day one.
Week start affects every report
Whether the week begins on Monday or Sunday changes what "last week" means. Match how your business already talks about weeks, not the default.
Holidays are not optional
An unlisted public holiday appears in the forecast as a day of normal demand, and the schedule staffs for it. Then the following year's forecast learns from a day that looked catastrophically overstaffed.
Add them for every location, a year ahead.
Operating hours shape the forecast
Contact arriving outside your hours is real demand and it is not something you can staff at that moment. Getting the hours right is what keeps the forecast honest about what needs covering.
Set it up per location
Different countries have different holidays, hours and time zones. A single global setting produces schedules that are wrong for everybody except the head office.
Review annually
Holidays for the coming year, and any change to opening hours. Fifteen minutes each December, and it prevents a year of small inaccuracies.
