Making the app skip weekends and public holidays, and the trigger you have to add for it to know your schedule.

Set it up

  1. Confirm your schedule has its working hours and holidays filled in.
  2. Add a trigger that sets the schedule on the ticket.
  3. Use a working-day tag such as due_at_plus_3wd in your macro.
  4. Test it on a date you know falls near a holiday.

The trigger is not optional

This is the step everyone misses. Zendesk works out the schedule itself for its own features, but it does not pass that to an integration, so the app cannot see which schedule applies.

A trigger with the action Set schedule makes it explicit. Without it the app counts plain days and lands on your holidays.

You need it even when you have only one schedule.

Filling the holidays

Entering a year of public holidays by hand for one country is an afternoon; for a company operating in several it is worse. The Holidays app imports them, which is what it exists for.

What it will not do

It skips days that are marked as holidays. It cannot handle a day that is half a working day, because Zendesk's own schedules cannot either.

Check it against a real holiday

Pick a macro, apply it a few days before a holiday you know is in the schedule, and look at the date. Counting forward on paper is how people convince themselves it works when it does not.
