Click a phone number in Outlook to call it over Wildix, so you stop copying numbers between windows all day. Windows only.
What it does
Ties Outlook on Windows to your phone in four ways: numbers become clickable, your presence follows your calendar, an incoming call is looked up against your Outlook contacts before it reaches you, and you can search those contacts from Collaboration.
The click-to-call is the part people notice first. The caller lookup is the part they miss when it is gone, because it turns an unknown number into a name.
Windows only
This integration is for Outlook on Windows. On macOS, and in Outlook on the web, use the Chrome extension instead, which does the same thing on any web page.
Install it
- Install the Integration Service on the computer. Outlook support is part of it, and you switch it on in the service's own settings.
- Restart Outlook.
- Sign in with your extension when prompted.
- Open the Outlook tab in your Collaboration settings and switch on Enable Outlook sync.
Installing software may need local administrator rights, so check with whoever manages the computers before rolling it out widely.
For a whole team, deploy it centrally rather than asking each person to install it. Doing it desk by desk means half the team never gets round to it.
Calendar is separate
Two different things read your calendar and it is worth keeping them apart. This integration reads the calendar on your own computer and turns a meeting into a presence status, so colleagues see you are busy.
The availability the meeting scheduler offers to other people comes from the Microsoft 365 integration instead, which is set up centrally and works whether or not anything is installed on your computer.
If numbers are not clickable
- Outlook was not restarted after installing
- The number is stored in a format the integration cannot recognise
- Another application has claimed the call handler on that computer
