Your headset starts muted by default. Hold Push-to-talk while you speak, or double-press Mute for handsfree.
The usual cause
Every x-hoppers headset joins the broadcast muted. That is deliberate: a shop floor with twenty open microphones would be unusable.
Two ways to unmute
- Push-to-talk. Hold the button while you talk. You are unmuted only while holding it.
- Handsfree. Double-press Mute. You stay unmuted until you press it again or put the headset on the charger.
If that is not it
- Are you logged in? A headset that never asked for your Employee ID is on but not on the channel.
- Are you in range? Out of range it drops off and rejoins within about five seconds of coming back.
- Is it charged? A red fast blink means low battery, and a headset can have enough charge to light up but not to hold a connection.
