Answer a phone call, accept a request from the shop floor, and get back to the broadcast, all from the headset.
Answer an incoming call
- You hear "Incoming call".
- Double-press the Push-to-talk button on your headset, the one you hold to speak, which some hardware documentation calls the Call button. That answers, and puts you on hold in the broadcast so your colleagues do not hear the customer conversation.
- Hold the button to speak to the caller, or double-press Mute for handsfree if you need both hands.
In Retail mode the headset does not tell a broadcast and an incoming call apart, so it stays muted after you accept the call until you unmute it yourself. Somebody who answers and starts talking is not heard.
Accept a customer request
When someone scans a smart call point, you hear a notification. Double-press the same button to accept it. The system then announces to everyone that you are handling it.
Accept before you walk over, not after. The announcement is what stops three colleagues converging on the same customer.
Confirming a broadcast message
Some announcements are sent with confirmation required, for example a stock change everyone needs to know. Double-press to confirm you heard it.
Notice the pattern: a double-press accepts whatever is in front of you. A call, a customer request, or a message to confirm. When there is nothing to accept, the same double-press mutes the broadcast instead.
Getting back to the broadcast
Ending the call returns you to the shared channel automatically. You do not need to rejoin.
While you are with a customer
Double-press to mute the broadcast audio for 60 seconds, unless your administrator has set a different timeout. You stay on the channel and colleagues can still reach you, but the chatter stops while you are talking to someone face to face.
Double-press again to unmute before the time is up. You do not have to wait it out.
