Every save is a revision, and any of them can be restored. That makes editing far less risky than it feels.

See and restore

  1. Open the article.
  2. Open its revision history.
  3. Pick a revision to see what it contained and who saved it.
  4. Restore it if you want it back.

Restoring creates a new revision rather than erasing what came after, so nothing is lost either way.

Where it earns its keep

  • An edit that turned out wrong. Restore and move on.
  • Working out what changed when an article stopped matching the product.
  • Recovering a paragraph somebody removed and you wanted.

It changes how you should edit

Knowing you can go back removes the reason to be cautious. Improve the article properly rather than making a minimal change and hoping.

The people who edit least are usually the ones who do not know this exists.

Who edited what

Each revision records its author, which matters in a team. Not to assign blame, but because the person who wrote something is usually the one who knows why.
