A reminder to check an article again, on a date you choose. The mechanism that stops content ageing unnoticed.
Set one
- Open the article.
- Set a review date, or let a verification rule set one.
- Assign it to whoever should check it.
- Save.
When the date arrives the article appears in a list of things to look at.
Set the date for a reason
Not a blanket year for everything. Tie it to what makes the article go stale.
- A known release that will change the interface.
- A contract or policy renewal.
- A date in the article itself. Anything mentioning a year should be checked before that year ends.
- How fast the subject moves, for everything else.
Assign it to somebody
A reminder with no owner is a list nobody works. Assigning it to the person who wrote it usually works, because they know what to check.
Reviewing is not rewriting
Most reviews take two minutes: read it, confirm it is still true, set the next date. Only some need work.
Teams that treat review as a rewrite stop doing it, which is why framing it as a quick check matters.
