What front desk and housekeeping can do from a room phone once the property management system is connected.

At the front desk

Check-in and check-out drive the phone system automatically. Checking a guest in activates the room phone and puts their name on it; checking out deactivates it and clears the name.

Nobody maintains room phones by hand, which removes both a task and a class of complaint: guests who cannot dial out, and charges landing on the wrong room.

Wake-up calls

Set from the front desk or by the guest from the room. Worth testing the guest-facing route yourself, because a wake-up call that silently fails is the kind of thing a hotel hears about in a review rather than at the desk.

Housekeeping from the room phone

Room status can be updated from the phone in the room, so a cleaner marks a room ready without walking to a terminal or radioing anyone. The status lands in the property management system where the front desk already looks.

The codes staff dial are configured for your property. Print them on a card in each room's service area rather than expecting people to remember.

Call charges

Calls from a room post to the room account automatically. What a room may dial is controlled by call restrictions on our side, so tell us what should be blocked, typically international and premium rate.

Test the whole flow with a real check-in before going live: check in, dial out, place an internal call, update the room status, check out. Fifteen minutes that saves a bad opening week.

When something is wrong

Most issues turn out to be the property management system and the phone system disagreeing about a room's state. Note the room number and what the desk shows versus what the phone does, and send us both.
