Hotel integration with the FIAS protocol

Wildix speaks FIAS, the protocol hotel management systems use to talk to a phone system. Once connected, the phones react to what happens at the front desk: check-in activates the room phone and puts the guest's name on it, check-out deactivates it and clears the name, call charges post to the room account, housekeeping updates room status from the room phone, and wake-up calls can be set at the desk or by the guest.

Without it somebody at reception maintains room phones by hand, and the mistakes surface as guests who cannot dial out or charges on the wrong room.

Which systems it works with

System Note
Micros Opera Fidelio Suite 6, Suite 7, Suite 8 and OPERA PMS. Fidelio Xpress is not supported.
Protel Serenissima
ASA Hotel
Direct Holiday
Hotsoft8 of HoistGroup
Ericsoft
Others Any system that supports FIAS, though it may need extra steps or lack some features.

For Oracle the tested combination is Oracle Hospitality OPERA 5.0.05.00 with Oracle Hospitality Interface IFC8 8.10.2.20 and FIAS 2.20.12. Tell us which system and version you run before anything is planned around it.

What it costs in licences

Two things, and the second is the one people forget:

  • One Premium subscription activates the service for the whole system. It is not per room.
  • A Basic subscription or higher for each user, which in a hotel means each room.

A budget built on the single Premium alone therefore comes out short by one subscription per room. Ask us for the total for your number of rooms before anything is committed.

Door hardware as well

Through XOpen software the system can also work with Bticino and Legrand hardware: key card programmers, and the do not disturb and make up room indicators outside the door. If you are replacing those at the same time, it can be one project instead of two.

Setting it up

The connection spans your phone system and your property management system, so it is not a self-service setup. Tell us which PMS you use and we will confirm what is needed on both sides.

Blocking outbound calls from rooms

Which numbers a room phone may dial is controlled through call restrictions. Tell us what should be blocked, typically international and premium rate numbers.
