Can I report on tickets with attachments

Plan requirement

Not directly. The workaround is a tag, and it has to be set up long before you need the report.

Why not directly

Attachments belong to comments rather than to the ticket, and comment content is not something Explore reports on. There is no "has attachment" attribute to group by.

The workaround

  1. Create a trigger that fires when a ticket is created with an attachment.
  2. Have it add a tag.
  3. Report on that tag.

From then on the question is answerable. It does nothing for tickets that already exist, which is the catch.

Set it up before you need it

Every reporting question that depends on a tag is really a question about whether somebody thought of it months ago. If attachments matter to you at all, add the trigger now and have the data when the question arrives.

The question usually underneath

Storage, or handling time. For storage, look at account usage rather than counting tickets. For handling time, the tag report answers it: tickets with attachments against tickets without.

Attachments and AI

Worth knowing if you run an AI agent: it works from the text, so a ticket whose content is a screenshot has almost nothing for it to read. Tagging those makes it easy to route them straight to a person.
