Zendesk publishes a set of free apps. Look here before the wider Marketplace: they are maintained and they cost nothing.
Why start here
They are built and maintained by Zendesk, so they survive platform changes. There is no supplier relationship, no separate charge, and no question about who fixes them.
Between them they cover a large share of what teams go to the Marketplace for.
What they cover
- Finding things: better search from inside a ticket.
- Context: the customer's recent tickets beside this one.
- Ticket handling: cloning, linking, printing.
- Managing the team: out of office, assignment control.
- Administration: field management, bulk work.
Install a few, not all
Every app adds something to the agent's screen. Install what solves a problem your team actually has, restricted to the group that needs it.
Installing the whole set produces a cluttered interface and no benefit.
They still need scoping
Free does not mean harmless to usability. An app relevant to admins should not appear for every agent.
Check the built-in feature first
Some of these overlap with things Zendesk now does natively. Where the platform covers it, the app is one less thing on the screen.
The ones most teams keep
Out of office, linked ticket, clone ticket, and a search app. Those four solve genuinely common problems and earn their place on the screen.
