Record phone menu messages by phone

Record your phone menu messages and voice cues from any handset by dialling 74, without sending us an audio file.

Agree the message numbers first

Every recording has a number, and that number is what ties it to a place in your call flow. Settle the list with us before you record, and a new recording lands straight where it belongs instead of sitting unused.

Without that, you have made a recording the system does not know what to do with.

Recording one

  1. Dial 74 from Collaboration or from a desk phone.
  2. Enter the message number when asked, for example 100.
  3. Speak, then press # to stop.

If a recording already exists under that number you get a menu first:

0 Delete the recording.
1 Record over it.
2 Play it back.

Going straight in

Dial 74*100*1 and you skip the menus: message 100, option 1, recording. Useful when you are re-recording the same greeting for the fourth time and know exactly what you want.

Where they end up

Recordings appear under Sounds in WMS, so an administrator can hear what is live without phoning in to check.

Getting it right

Record from a quiet room on a handset rather than a laptop microphone, and say less than you think you need to. A caller who is waiting hears every extra word.

Use option 2 to listen back before you leave it. What sounds fine while you are speaking often does not.
