Send and receive text messages from the same conversation as your calls, on numbers that run over CLASSOUND.
Three things have to be in place
- The user is on x-bees Standard or higher.
- The number sends over CLASSOUND. Numbers on Multi Carrier Trunks cannot send messages.
- Messaging is enabled on that specific number.
If you run x-bees, CLASSOUND is normally already there. The number and its setup are the variables.
Sending
Open the conversation and send a message as you would a chat. It arrives on the recipient's phone as a normal text, and their reply comes back into the same conversation.
Two-way SMS works in certain countries only. If replies never arrive from one country, that is likely why.
Why this beats a personal mobile
- The thread survives the person. A colleague can pick up where you left off.
- Calls and messages sit together rather than in two places.
- The customer sees your company number, not someone's private mobile.
Text is right for short and factual: a confirmation, a running late, a tracking link. For anything needing a discussion, call. A long negotiation over SMS helps nobody.
Guests and SMS
External people cannot be added to an SMS conversation the way they can to a normal one. SMS is between you and one number.
If nothing sends
Check the plan, then check whether that number is set up for messaging. Having CLASSOUND does not mean every number can send.
