Broadcast a Wildix video conference live to YouTube or Facebook using a stream key from the platform you are streaming to.
Before you start
- Only people on your own phone system can start, stop or manage a stream. Guests joining from outside cannot.
- A stream stops automatically after two hours, or when the file reaches 2 GB. You can start it again straight away.
- You cannot record the conference while a stream is running.
Get a YouTube stream key
- Open YouTube, click your profile picture and choose YouTube Studio.
- Click Go live.
- The first time, choose Start under Right now.
- Choose the Streaming software option and click Go.
- On the Stream tab, under Stream Settings, click Copy next to Stream key.
A new YouTube account cannot stream for the first 24 hours. If the account has never gone live, YouTube asks you to verify it and then waits a day before enabling streaming. You cannot get a key before that, so do this well before the event rather than on the morning.
Get a Facebook stream key
- Open facebook.com/live/create and click Create Live Stream.
- Choose where it should appear: a page, a group or your own timeline. Click Select.
- Under Select a video source, go to Streaming Software and click Copy next to the stream key.
Start the stream
- In the conference, click More actions, the three dots at the lower right.
- Click Start live stream.
- Paste the key into Live stream key and click Start live stream.
On YouTube the broadcast begins within moments. On Facebook it opens in preview first, so click Go Live there to put it out.
Stop the stream
Click More actions, then Stop live stream, and confirm. Ending the conference without stopping the stream leaves an empty broadcast running on the platform, so stop it deliberately.
