A button on your website that opens WhatsApp with your number already filled in. Small, and it lifts usage noticeably.
What it does
A link that opens WhatsApp, on a phone or in the desktop app, with a conversation to your number ready to start. Optionally with a first message prefilled.
It removes the step where somebody has to copy a number and find it in their contacts, which is where most people give up.
Add it
- Get the link format from the messaging channel settings in Admin Center.
- Put it on the pages where it fits: contact, support, order confirmation.
- Optionally prefill a first message giving context.
- Test on a phone and on a desktop.
Prefill with context, not with a script
A prefilled message saying which page they came from helps your agent. One that puts words in the customer's mouth is odd, and people delete it anyway.
Something short: "Question about order" works. A paragraph does not.
Where to put it
Where somebody is likely to have a question: order confirmations, delivery pages, the contact page. Putting it on every page competes with your widget and confuses the choice.
On desktop it needs the app
The link opens WhatsApp Web or the desktop app, and a visitor with neither sees a page asking them to install something. Worth knowing before making it the primary route on a desktop-heavy site.
