Yes. Two choices decide whether search engines carry your rankings across or drop them: permanent rather than temporary, and page to page rather than everything to the home page. Both are set on your own website, so this needs whoever manages it.
Will we lose our Google rankings if we move the articles?
A redirect can say the move is permanent or temporary. Permanent, an HTTP 301, tells search engines to transfer what the old address had earned. Temporary tells them to keep indexing the old one. People pick temporary because it sounds safer; it is the one that loses the rankings.
Send each old page to the article that replaces it. A bulk redirect to the help centre home page reads to a search engine as the content being gone, and to a visitor as being dumped at reception.
Write the mapping of old address to new while you still remember which article replaced which page. Reconstructing it later is much harder, and whoever manages the website needs it anyway.
Expect a settling period: search engines take weeks over a move, and rankings dip and recover. Meanwhile, check each redirect from a browser, one by one.
Host mapping removes the problem
Where the whole help centre should live under your own domain, host mapping puts it there and there is nothing to redirect. The content sits on your domain from the start, Google sees it on the same domain as your main site, and you build the reputation of one domain rather than two.
Do it before you publish. Moving later means every ranking starts again, which is the situation the redirects above exist to rescue.
