Previewing WhatsApp and other social messaging apps

Plan requirement

App pluscloud AI Agent Preview
Subscription Suite Team or higher, Support Team or higher
Access Client admin, Client editor, Client user

The preview shows WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, LINE, Viber, WeChat and X on an iPhone, with each app's own way of showing buttons and lists.

Open a messaging app

In the toolbar, open Preview channel and choose an app under Social messaging. If the channel is connected to your account, you can also choose it under This account; the preview then uses that channel's name in the app's header. See Choosing the channel to preview.

The same question with five store options on two phones. In WhatsApp the options are hidden behind a list button under the message. In Messenger they appear as a row of quick replies above the message field.

How buttons and carousels change

Each app receives the AI agent's output the way Sunshine Conversations delivers it there. The preview applies the same conversion:

App Quick replies Carousels
WhatsApp Up to 3 as reply buttons, 4 to 10 as a list, beyond 10 only the first 10. With a link or postback button in the same message, the whole message becomes text. Numbered text, without images
Messenger Quick replies; link and postback buttons, up to 3 Cards, up to 10
Instagram Quick replies, on the mobile app only Text with one image
Telegram A keyboard under the message field One message per card
LINE Quick replies Cards
Viber A keyboard Up to 6 cards per message, the rest in a next message
WeChat, X The options as text lines Numbered text

A form becomes a short text with a link to the form. For every message, the inspector lists under On followed by the app's name what that app changes or leaves out.

Text formatting

On WhatsApp and Viber, bold, italic and strikethrough appear in the app's own formatting. On Telegram the preview keeps the formatting. On Messenger, Instagram, LINE, WeChat and X the preview shows plain text, so a heading or a bold word loses its markup.

The welcome reply

In these apps the customer sends the first message, so the welcome reply never appears there. The preview hides it behind a one-line note. Click Show to see it dimmed, or turn on Show welcome reply messages in the preview settings. A dialogue that a test starts by itself gets a similar note, because in these apps it only runs after a customer message that triggers it. See Setting the welcome reply.

Keyboard and dark mode

On-screen keyboard shows how much of the screen the keyboard covers: Never, When the message field has focus or Always. Dark mode switches the app to its dark theme. Both are in the preview settings.

Limits

Each app has its own limits on the length of a message or a button. A message the app would reject is dimmed and marked as not delivered, with the reason. See Channel limits the preview checks.
