Lift your x-hoppers headset off the charger, say your Employee ID, and you are on the broadcast. Here is what the lights mean.
Log in with your voice
This is the normal way for a store associate to start a shift.
- Lift the headset off the charging station.
- Wait for the prompt asking for your Employee ID.
- Press and hold the Push-to-talk button and say your Employee ID, which is your extension.
- Wait until login finishes. You join the broadcast automatically.
To log out, put the headset back on the charging station. That is the whole procedure.
Voice authentication has to be switched on by an administrator before anyone can use it. If the headset never asks for an Employee ID, that is why.
Log in as a guest
For visiting staff or a temporary worker who has no Employee ID.
- Lift the headset off the charging station.
- When prompted for your Employee ID, press and hold Push-to-talk and say Guest Access.
- Wait until login finishes.
Headsets assigned by an administrator
Instead of voice login, an administrator can assign a specific headset to a specific person in x-hoppers admin. Useful when everyone has their own headset and nobody shares.
What the lights mean
| Colour | Pattern | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Green, on the charger | Long blink | Charging |
| Green, on the charger | Steady | Charged and full |
| Red | Fast short blink | Battery low, still in use |
| Red, on the charger | Steady | Charging from a low battery |
Sharing a headset between shifts
Put it back on the charger, which logs you out, and the next person lifts it off and logs in with their own Employee ID. Nothing else is needed at a shift change.
Wearing it on either ear
Both work, and it changes the volume keys. On your left ear the upper key is volume up; on your right ear it is the lower one.
Joining and rejoining the broadcast
The headset joins the broadcast the moment you lift it off the charger. If you walk out of range, or an administrator removes you from the broadcast, the headset rejoins on its own within about five seconds of becoming available again. You do not need to log in a second time.
