Sidetone lets you hear your own voice in the headset, which stops people raising their voice without noticing.
Why it matters
With both ears covered you lose the feedback that tells you how loud you are. People compensate by talking louder, which is tiring for them and distracting for everyone nearby. Sidetone feeds a little of your own voice back so your volume stays natural.
In an open-plan office it is one of the cheapest improvements you can make for people on the phone all day.
Turning it on
Sidetone for MonoLED and DuoLED headsets is set on the Windows side rather than in Wildix, through the sound settings for the headset device. It is a per-computer setting, so it does not follow the person to another machine.
If the option is not there
Not every headset supports it. Wildix MonoLED and DuoLED models do; third-party headsets vary by model. If the setting is absent, the headset does not offer it and there is no workaround in software.
Roll it out to a team rather than to one person. If everyone in a room speaks a little quieter, the room gets quieter, and that helps more than any single desk.
