Headset firmware updates fix audio and connection problems. It runs from your own computer, not from the phone system.

When it is worth doing

Not routinely. Update when you have a specific problem that a newer version addresses:

• Audio dropping or crackling that is not explained by the network
• A Bluetooth headset that will not pair or keeps disconnecting
• The busy light not following call state
• Call control buttons doing nothing

A headset that works has nothing to gain from an update, and every update carries a small risk.

Before you start

• Charge it fully. A Bluetooth headset that dies mid-update can be left unusable.
• Connect by cable where the model allows it, rather than over Bluetooth.
• Close your calling software so it is not holding the device.
• Do not do this five minutes before a meeting.

Wired and Bluetooth differ

Wired MonoLED and DuoLED headsets update over the USB connector. The Bluetooth versions update through their base station, and the base station may need its own update. If the headset seems current but problems persist, check the base too.

If you are not sure

Describe the problem to us first. Firmware is often not the cause, and we would rather tell you that than have you update a headset that was never the problem.
