Paying annually is currently 20 per cent cheaper than monthly. What you give up for that, and when monthly is the better call.
The difference
Zendesk offers a discount for paying annually rather than monthly, currently 20 per cent as shown on the pricing page in August 2026. On a team of twenty that is a real number.
What you give up is flexibility. An annual term fixes your seat count for the year in the sense that reducing it is a renewal conversation rather than a switch you flip.
When annual is right
- Your team size is stable or growing.
- You have been running Zendesk long enough to know what you need.
- The saving is worth more to you than the option to shrink.
When monthly is right
- You are still in your first months. Paying for flexibility while you work out what you need is money well spent.
- Your team size swings seasonally. If you go from ten agents to twenty-five and back, an annual commitment at either number is wrong.
- You are trialling an add-on. Committing annually to something nobody has used yet is the most common way to overpay.
Adding seats mid-term
Seats added during an annual term are added to the subscription and charged for the remainder of it. Growing is straightforward. Shrinking is the direction that waits for renewal, which is why the number you commit to matters more than the number you might reach.
Worth a conversation before you sign a year. Tell us your seat count and how it moves and we will say plainly whether the annual saving is worth the loss of flexibility for you.
