AI Agent Preview asks Chrome for the Zendesk pages when you install it. It asks for any other website one site at a time, and only when you need it.

The permissions it asks for

Chrome shows these permissions when you install the extension. Access to a website is the only optional one.

Permission Why
The zendesk.com and ultimate.ai pages The AI agents dashboard and its test widget run there. The Web Widget inspector also reads the account and AI agent behind a website's widget there, with your own session.
Storage Keeping your settings, test sets and choices.
ekr.zdassets.com Reading the public configuration of your Web Widget.
static.zdassets.com and rules for network requests Presentation mode: letting the website you chose load behind the preview, and keeping that site's own Zendesk widget from loading.
Scripting Switching the Web Widget inspector on for the sites you chose. In presentation mode: hiding other chat widgets on the website you chose, only inside the preview.
Access to a website, optional Asked per site, only when you choose a website background, open a webview or switch the Web Widget inspector on. Never at install.
Active tab When you click the extension's icon: checking whether the page has a Zendesk Web Widget.
DevTools The AI Agent Inspector panel in Chrome DevTools.

Websites you choose

Before a website appears behind the preview, the extension asks for permission for that site, and Chrome asks you to confirm.

A card next to the preview with the heading Show www.bluebirdbikes.example behind the preview. It explains that Chrome needs permission to load the site in the preview and that the site is only loaded there, in presentation mode, with an Allow button.

The page then loads straight from that website into your browser. In that tab, and only in frames the extension made, the extension lifts the site's block on being shown inside another page. It does not read or store the site's content. The permission covers the whole domain, such as everything under example.com, so a redirect within the site keeps working. See Showing your website or an image behind the preview.

For the Web Widget inspector, Chrome asks once for the site you inspect. The inspector then stays on for that site until you turn it off. Turning it off does not remove Chrome's permission. See Getting started with the Web Widget inspector.

Checking and removing access

On chrome://extensions, open the details of AI Agent Preview. There you see the sites the extension may use, and you can remove one. The next time you choose that site as a background or switch the inspector on there, the extension asks again. If a site keeps asking or stays blank, see A website or webview does not load in the preview.
