Replace a headset earpad

Ear cushions are consumables. Replacing them restores comfort, hygiene and, more often than people expect, sound quality.

When to replace them

  • The surface is cracked, flaking or shiny
  • The cushion has flattened and the headset presses on the ear
  • Audio sounds thinner than it used to, because the seal has gone
  • The headset is moving to a different person

That third one surprises people. A worn cushion no longer seals against the head, and both what you hear and what the microphone picks up get worse.

How to replace one

Cushions pull off and push on. Work around the edge rather than pulling from one point, and make sure the new one is seated all the way round before use.

Shared headsets

Where headsets are shared between shifts, treat cushions as a hygiene item on a schedule rather than replacing them when someone complains. It is a small cost that prevents a conversation nobody enjoys having.

Keep spares in the drawer. A worn cushion is a five-minute fix with a spare to hand and a week-long annoyance without one.

Ordering

Cushions and other accessories are ordered through us. Tell us the headset model and how many you need. Accessories are a paid item, and we confirm before shipping.
