Receiving

Incoming faxes arrive as a PDF in Collaboration 7, and by email as well if you want that. No paper, no machine, and it does not matter whether anyone is in the office.

Sending from any application

The fax printer appears as a printer on your computer, so anything you can print you can fax. It is part of WIService, which you install from your Collaboration settings under Extensions; there is no separate fax printer download.

1. Open the document and choose Print.
2. Select Wildix FaxPrinter from the list of printers.
3. Set the paper size to A4 and click Print.
4. The fax window opens in your browser. Enter the fax number.
5. Optionally add a cover page or set a later delivery time, then click Send fax.

It works on Windows and on macOS 10.13 or higher, and on Windows Terminal Server.

Sending from x-bees is a different route

There is no printer involved. Click + on the top panel and choose Send fax, enter the fax number or search for a colleague, then Add files and Send. You can turn on a fax cover and postpone delivery from the same screen, and a shortcut is to search for somebody and click their fax number.

Two limits differ from the printer route: one file at a time, and only PDF or TIFF. Searching for a colleague also only finds people who have a fax number on their profile.

Only A4 portrait goes through

This is the constraint to check before you troubleshoot anything else: the fax printer accepts A4 files in portrait orientation only. A landscape page or another paper size will not send, and that is the usual explanation when a document refuses to go while others do.

Setting it up

Fax needs a number and the right configuration behind it. Tell us whether you need to send, receive or both, and which number should be used, and we will put it in place.

If you still have a physical fax machine, it needs a device licence of its own. Ask us which one fits an unattended device like that.

When a fax fails

Fax is unforgiving of line quality in a way voice is not. Once you have ruled out the A4 portrait rule, a page that fails repeatedly to one recipient is usually their end or the route rather than your document. Note the destination number and the time and send it to us.
