Are agent and admin seats priced differently

Plan requirement

Access Admin

No. An admin is an agent with more permissions and costs the same, which makes fewer admins a security improvement that is free.

Are admin seats priced differently?

Seats are priced per agent, whatever their role. Making somebody an admin does not change the bill, and demoting an admin does not save anything.

The useful consequence

There is no financial reason to keep somebody as an admin. If they do not need admin permissions, take them away: it costs nothing, and fewer admins is a security improvement available for free, which is unusual.

Two or three admins suits most organisations. Enough that somebody is always available, few enough that changes are traceable to a small group. Accounts with a dozen got there by granting it to solve one problem at a time.

What does change the bill?

  • The number of seats.
  • The plan level, which applies to all of them.
  • Add-ons, some of which are also per seat.
  • Usage-based items such as automated resolutions.

Add-ons are worth checking

Copilot, for instance, is an add-on for Suite and Support Professional and above, listed at €50 per agent per month paid yearly on Zendesk's pricing page, rechecked on 6 September 2026. Per agent means per agent: on a team of twenty that is twenty times the figure, whether three of them use it or all twenty.

Buying it needs the account owner or a billing admin, which is a separate permission from being an admin, and the usual reason a purchase stalls. On a managed account, which is what you have if you buy through us, neither route exists and the purchase runs through us.
