Branded calling shows your company name next to your number, so the person deciding whether to answer sees who is calling. It is available on numbers in the United States and Germany only. On a Dutch number it cannot be activated.
Extended CNAM against standard CNAM
CLASSOUND has offered a standard CNAM service for US and German numbers for some time. Extended CNAM is the newer version, and the differences are what make branded calling possible.
| Parameter | Extended CNAM | Standard CNAM |
| Characters | 32 in the US, 30 in Germany | 15 |
| Branded call support | Yes | No |
| When it shows | Always | Occasionally |
In the United States, coverage runs across T-Mobile, Boost Mobile, Verizon and AT&T, together more than 95 percent of mobile subscriptions and over 280 million devices. A verified call tag shows during the call, and the name also appears in the recipient's call log.
What you need for it
- CLASSOUND Pro.
- A CLASSOUND number in the United States or Germany.
- x-bees Basic or higher, or UC-Essential or higher on Collaboration 7.
- A company legally registered in the United States or Germany, able to provide valid business documentation. Registration for call branding is open to those companies only.
What to send us to activate it
Ask us to set it up and include the number, the name you want displayed within the character limit for that country, and your company name, address and website. Those are the details the registration needs.
Register the name people know you by
A legal entity name that differs from your trading name does not help, and can make the call look less legitimate rather than more. With 32 characters in the US and 30 in Germany there is room for a recognisable name rather than a full legal one.
It is not a substitute for behaviour
Branding a number that makes unwanted calls gets you recognised faster, not welcomed. It helps expected calls get answered; it does not rescue cold outreach.
The reverse problem
People spoofing numbers to call you is the other side of this. CLASSOUND can block calls presenting numbers that fail verification, and it is worth asking about at the same time.
